Saturday Runs...

My family- Dad, Mom, sisters Megan and Sarah are all training for the Canyons 1/2 marathon down in Maob Utah. I started really training the week after Christmas.

January 17th- I ran 5 miles

January 24th- I ran 6 miles.

January 31st- I was suppose to run 7 miles, my knee started hurting so I stopped at 5 (59.57) under an hour "smile". I didn't want to push it and re-injure my knee again.

Feb 7th- I ran 8 miles today. My knee felt pretty good. My average time was 11.8 min. My 5 mile mark was 57.33. Getting better. "smile" (I'm thinking the 5 mile run is looking better and better) don't worry dad, I'll stick with the 1/2 marathon.

Next week I'm back down to 6 miles. That should be a piece of cake. I need to find a place to run out doors. Running the track at the Rec. Center 40 times (8 miles) is getting a little boring.

Feb 14th- Today was brutal from the beginning. I had to deal with stomach cramps most of the time and I was just plain tired. I think my best mile was mile 4. My average time was 11.5 min. and at the 5 mile mark I was hopping to beat last weeks time but came up a little short 57.45.

Feb 19th- Today is Thursday. I decided I wanted to get my long run over with before I headed of to Utah. I didn't want to spend Brookies birthday running 1/2 of the day. It has been nice outside too so I decided to try the greenbelt by the Islands. The first couple of miles went great. The greenbelt lead off to some secluded farm land and I was all by myself so I decided to head back to be by the houses and hopefully some other runners. I passed a biker (freaky guy on a bike with a backpack and a earring) along the way and didn't think to much of it. Then I saw him again coming the other way. I thought that it was a little weird so as I ran I kept checking over my shoulder. I hadn't seen him for a while and then all of a sudden he popped out of no where right behind me. I turned around right away and kicked it up a notch. I had my phone on me so I called Kelby we talked and decided if I saw him again that I should call the police. I was taking a drinking break at my car and down the greenbelt came the freaky guy on the bike towards me. I don't think he saw me cuz I was hiding behind my car, I wanted to see if he'd cross the road to the side I was on. He didn't he just turned around and started going back the other way. I wasn't only scared for me but school was going to be out soon and some girls were walking on the side he was on so I called the police. They said they would have someone come out right away and check it out. So my 10 mile run was cut short. I did about 8 and I couldn't tell you the time cuz I was too frazzled to keep an accurate time.

Feb 28th-6 miles today. It was yucking and windy outside so I went to the gym to run the indoor track, 30 times around. Despite making good time I felt like crap, and that I was running really slow. I was fooled cuz my 5 mile time was my best ever 55min and 57 sec. The 6th mile I slowed way down and took it easy. Next week is the big 12 mile, the last big one before the race. I'm not looking forward to that. Hopefully I can get Kelby and the kids out on their bikes to ride along with me, I'm thinking about trying the trail around Lake Lowell.
Did I mention that I'm tired of running. I need a soccer ball in front of me to kick around for some entertainment.

March- My last long run before the race. I felt really good. I tried one of those 5 hour energy shot drink things. Holly cow! I think I'm going to carry 3 with my on the run. I felt like I could go and go. No side stitch or anything. Good run...

So my next posting will be the after.. I'll actually have to do a post for that one. Wish me luck!!!
