This year we spent Christmas in Utah at my parents home. All my sisters and their families were there. Oh the craziness, but good craziness. It was so much fun seeing the grandkids interact with one another. Hayden and his sidekick Tyler, Ashley and Brooklynn being the big helpers with the babies, Lucy and Carson.
The girls were so excited to go to Grandma's. That meant it was that much closer to Christmas and snow. They could not wait to play in the snow. From the minute they woke up all I heard was "can we go outside pleassssseee?" I finally gave in and they went out side and played in 13 degree weather. I thought they'd be back in shortly but no they stayed out for a good hour or more.
Christmas Eve started with our traditional soup. Then on to the program, we added a new tradition this year. Since the grandkids are getting older we thought it would be fun to act out the nativity. Ashley was an Angel, Brooklynn was Mary, Hayden was Joseph, Tyler a shepard and Uncle Chris was the wise man. (Grandma found some great costumes) We had fun watching the kids act out their parts and all of us joined in singing the songs. Next the kids opened up their present from Grandma and Papa, jammies. All the grandkids had matching pjs. We ended the night watching the movie Luke 2 with the song by Amy Grant, Breath of Heaven. What a wonderful way to end the night with us thinking about Christ our Savior.
We were up early the next morning. The kids were so excited - Santa came. Ashley left a note for Santa with some cookies and carrots for his reindeer. Later that morning Ashley found a piece of carrot outside in the snow, with bite marks in it...
Christmas is the best time of the year, traditions, family and most importantly our Savior.
